Tuesday Finds: Let It Snow

Yay for snow! It's finally snowed enough around here that I can look outside and see the ground covered with white fluffy stuff. So refreshing after the grey and slush of autumn. Inspired by this, here's a selection that reminds me of the pretty snow of winter in one way or another.

Tuesday Finds: Ancient Olive Tree Project

This week's Tuesday Finds are a bit different. I'd like to bring you to the world of Frances Melhop - a world of fairytales, dreams and surreal imagery.

Frances has suddenly been given the chance to travel from New Zealand to Italy and begin what she calls the Ancient Olive Tree Project, which is something she's been dreaming of for 10 years. Her plans include old school photography of these magical olive trees, an exhibition and hopefully a book with these photos, local recipes and spooky stories by Italian grandmothers. How cool is that?

Unfortunately, because it was such a sudden opportunity, funding is a problem and she needs your help! Read more about the project and its progress on Frances' Kickstarter page.

Below is a small collection of her images, which fits my current mood, but there's much more to her work than what's shown here. Take a look at her website or Etsy shop for more!

Tuesday Finds: Mad Science and World Domination

A recent tweet by Huismus linked to the global domination notebook below. This brought back memories of a running joke back from when I was still only planning to study biology, about my goal being world domination through genetically engineered, trained killer potatoes (tomatoes were sooo overdone and potatoes were better suited for the Finnish climate anyway). Ah, the dreams of youth.

Tuesday Finds: Rain

The weather has had a bit of trouble making up its mind lately. At "best" it's been bright hot sun at first, then 10 seconds of pouring rain, then sun again. Yesterday it was pretty and hot as can be in the morning, then storming and thundering in the afternoon. Let's see what today brings...

Tuesday Finds: Merry Christmas!

You may have noticed that the Morrgan's Creatures shops are now closed. It's time for me to take a break and enjoy Christmas and New Year with family. I'll be taking a break from blogging too (and the internet in general - at most I may tweet occasionally), so enjoy the holiday of your choice and see you again in January!

To get into the mood of things, I'll leave you with a selection of fine items suited for the occasion. Tired of the usual Christmas tree and other decorations? Try one made of felt (owls optional), decorate it with chain ornaments, place it next to a deer sculpture and enjoy the whole scene while writing the last few holiday cards!

Tuesday Finds: Winter Sky

Remember me saying how it's currently dark when I go to work and dark when I get home? Well, one nice thing about the office at work is that it has a big window, overlooking a nearby park. I don't see much from where I sit, just the tops of some trees and the sky, but in winter time it gives a chance to enjoy what little sun there is.

The best part? The sky. Now that the proper cold and snow have arrived (yay!), the sky ends up showing these beautiful pastel hues - pale blues and turquoises, occasionally a bit of yellow or purple. These colours are the inspiration for this week's Tuesday Finds.

Tuesday Finds: Green

Tuesday Finds, remember them? I used to do them some time back, but stopped due to lack of time and whatnot. I liked them though, so I thought I'd try to bring them back in a slightly abbreviated form - I'll just show off a few items that have caught my eye the past week. No babbling, only photos and links. I'm hoping that this way I'll be able to do it even when my time has been sucked away into some black hole of work and such. No promises, but hopefully you'll see them more regularly from now on.

I'll still choose a theme each time and this week it'll be the colour green. Autumn may be my favourite season, but I do miss the green stuff. The greener the better!

Tuesday Finds: Finland Finland Finland

...Finland has it all. Or so say Monty Python.

Finland's Independence Day is coming up on December 6th - happy 91st, O Finland! So, I thought it'd be a good idea to show off an eclectic mix of items from shops based in Finland for this week's Tuesday Finds. Enjoy!

With its turquoise cherry blossom print and cute frame, karuski's frame pouch is such a pretty thing indeed. It's earth-friendly too, as it's made of recycled materials.

Speaking of recycling, Finns do quite a lot of it. Here's the reason why. We like having our pants intact, thank you very much. This fabric patch by Andy eats only candy can be sewn on anything, to serve as a warning to others.

Last up this week we have a lovely aquatint print called 'across the sea' by the littleblue shop. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about this image that really reminds me of the place I grew up in. Ah, nostalgia...
